Yep, I have a few minutes to pop in and say hi! I have been very busy lately leaving me with no time to post.
I also have been slack at taking some pics. I do have a few things I've finished but didn't get pics of them. Even though I've been in a crochet slump and have oodles of wips I did manage to make myself finish a few.
What I have today is something that I just started (I know right.......I have so many started and I start another one!). I couldn't help myself. I ordered the new special 'Crochet Traditions' from Interweave and when I saw these I knew I had to try and make them. I have been lusting after making some cool gloves and I think this pattern is going to work for me. I was a little bit disappointed in the mag, but if I can pull these off then I think it'll be worth it to me. I was hoping there would be more patterns than there were. However, I am happy that I did get it. The history of some of the crochet is very interesting and made for some great reading.
These are not full fingered gloves but I think that can be remedied with a little fiddling around. I also like them without the fingers. The pattern is very easy and I have not gotten the least bit bored with it, like everything else I have started. I am to the point of the row just above where the thumb goes. I am very eager to get this one (left) done and start on the right one. I used #3 Lime Green thread and #4 hook. The hook is right the thread is not, the pattern calls for Aurora Silk Tussah Fine. I used what I had on hand. I think it's going to be a little bit big but that's ok, it will probably shrink a tad when it's washed. I can go down a hook size on the next pair until I get it right. It goes pretty fast so I think I can whip out a pair of these fairly quick. I do want to make a few pairs for presents. :o)
And check out this pic I took last night. I was out watering and happened to look up and saw this color bar in the sky. How awesome is that? It's like a rainbow without the sides. (This pic was taken with my phone)
Ok dudettes (and dude). :o) I need to get back at it here. Duty calls. I hope you're able to stay cool in this horrendous heat we are having. Cya soon!

ReplyDeleteSaid "Hi" to you the other day as I swiped my card through the Verifone . . . I so miss reading about you and Mr. LL.
ReplyDeleteThose gloves are a great project - I can see why you started on them!
ReplyDeleteHi Kat! I love your gloves! I printed out a pattern this morning and am planning to make some gloves today too. They do make great gifts.
ReplyDeleteHope you are keeping cool down there! I think it's just hot everywhere. Love the gloves, they look so yummy and soft. Cool pic, too. Hope you get to slow down some soon. :)
ReplyDeleteI have yet to make a pair of gloves. I like them just haven't got around to it. I think the color is wonderful. Have a great week
ReplyDeleteThe gloves are going to be beautiful, especially love the color. What an amazing picture, you captured Nature beautifully.
ReplyDeleteHi Kat,
ReplyDeleteGreat pics. Those gloves are going to be nice this winter and they would make perfect gifts. I'm bad about starting new projects without finishing the old ones. It does feel good to get a wip done, doesn't it.
