Whimsical Wednesday!

Oh it's nice to be back. Where was I gone to? Well mostly work. It's been so hectic that I just haven't had the time to blog. And next week is the company wide shutdown so of course everybody wants everything yesterday before we shutdown for the week.

Am I going anywhere? I wish. No, the only place I will be going is Tuesday I am having a tooth pulled. :o( I am definitely not looking forward to that I can tell you. But the good thing is that my dentist is going to fit me for a partial after it heals. It's much more practical and cost effective to get a partial than getting a root canal and crown. (Which root canals and I don't get along) I've already had one and it had to be taken out less than 6 months after it had been done.

I do get to spend the week with Mr. Lick Lick. And hopefully it won't be too hot to do some work outside. It has just been horrible with heat here. The heat index has been as high as 110 but the normal days are around 105. I just stay in. I have plenty of WIP's to work on. Speaking of which - above is Bella's blankie that I am working on. I love the colors but I am so dumb sometimes. I had two small skeins of some kind of peach given to me, no wrappers so I don't know what brand or actual color it is. So I thought I'd use them in her blankie and now I can't do the blankie like I had hoped to because I don't have enough! And the purple that is in it is a blue/purple. That skein was given to me as well and it wasn't a full skein. But luckily it did have the wrapper on it. And I used all of it and as luck would have it I just happened to have another skein in my stash BUT it was a different dye lot. I can tell the difference but I don't think it will matter much to her. 2 year olds could care less about those things. :o) But I love the colors together - peach, magenta & the blue/purple (I don't know the correct color name). It's really more of a blue with a purple cast to it.

The little bag I crocheted is something I am very proud of myself for. I crocheted it with no specific pattern....just started crocheting and voila! I started it off with 10 stitches and ended up with 30 in the rows and it looks very nice, don't you think? I love it. I love it so much that I hate to use it for what I had intended it for!! How silly is that?

And I have bought myself a pair of knitting needles and a 'I taught myself to knit' book. That unfortunately is not coming along well at all. I'm trying to be patient with myself but it's kind of hard.

Mr. Lick Lick is doing good. He's not happy with me at the moment though. My boss gave me a rocker/recliner this last weekend and so I brought it home. It appears that it's not wide enough in the caboose area so that Mr. Lick Lick and I can sit in it comfortably together. So I pulled the ottoman closer to it so that he can lay on it and still be close to me, but noooooooo.....he has to be up next to me in the chair. The recliner is so much better on my back that I am not giving it up, as much as I love Leo. The loveseat was killing me. So I promised him that my Christmas present to myself this year was going to be a rather large rocker/recliner that both of our caboose's can fit into with no problem and plenty of room left over! LOL. I'm not sure that he understands that as he sits on the ottoman staring at me intently while I am crocheting and trying to ignore him. I'm not ignoring him to be mean, I'm ignoring him because he's looking at me expecting me to put my crocheting down so that he can lay on my lap. Lap dog + crocheting = yarn project full of dog hair. Not cool. We have to make some adjustments for about 5 or 6 months. That's all.....lol.

Well I am happy to be posting. I hope you are happy to see me again...I've missed this. So now onto blogs that I haven't had time to read.....it's time to catch up.

Where ever you may be I hope the sun is shining down but that you are comfortable and not over heated and your day is most lovely!

Hooky Pleasure

Sorry....I've been super busy. Work has a way of doing that. And when I get home my computer is usually the last thing on my mind.

Although this week was different. I decided to get myself a web cam so that I can talk to and see my grandbabies. So I looked at them and decided to get the Microsoft Cinema LifeCam. The reviews on it were good and once I saw that it was a good one to use with Skype I looked no further. It was a little bit more but I figured if it does a good job and had all the great reviews it did then it's better to spend a few extra dollars for it.

It came to me here at work on Wednesday and I went home to hook it up, expecting to be able to talk to my sister in FL. She uses Skype to talk to my niece in Turkey. So I get it set up and we are on the phone talking trying to get it so we can see each other and I discover that my internet is down!! WHAT??? I had just used it the weekend before when my other sister was there and it was fine. So anyways, I call my provider and they end up coming out yesterday and leaving me a new modem. I hooked it up and voila!! I talked to my sister so all is good. How cool is that, that you can talk to someone face to face on your computer and it doesn't cost you anything???Now she just has to get my daughter hooked up and I can see and talk to Kylie and Bella! I can't wait! Now Bella will grow up knowing her 'motorcycle granny'. I love it.

Other than that it's been an ok week. Leo is insisting on hunting those damn armadilly's. I brought him in the house 3 times yesterday and the last time his little body was so hot. I can't not let him outside cuz he does need to do his business. So I let him have fun for a little bit but then I go out and get him. Which he's getting real good at dodging me when I am trying to catch him. I can see a middle-aged-woman-trying-to-catch-her-dog-fall in my future. I just hope I don't break anything in the event. I truly can't afford that.

Before my sister went to FL I whipped up a few little tea cup pin cushions. I gave her two to give to my other sister's in FL and the other one I'll give to her for on her way back to NY so that she can give to the other sister. These are so quick to get together. I will most likely make a bunch for Christmas gifts and then put a few back for whatever gifts. I do that a lot. :o) But it doesn't take much yarn or much fiber-fill. The hardest part is putting the top on. It gets a little aggravating but when you are done you have a cute little pin cushion with a handle!

Well I guess I best get back to it here. I had a break but the printer just went off. Hope you have a wonderful weekend filled with fun and laughter and relaxation!

Sisters, Puppies and Grilling Out

Wow, you would have thought this week would have gone quicker with one less day to work. Nope...for some reason it's dragging. Sigh....

Well, my sister (the one just below me in age) was here for the weekend. She was on her way down to FL to visit with our father, who's health is failing. I fear this will be her last time to see him before he goes. It was a surprise, he didn't know she was coming down. And she was supposed to be taking some home-made banana nut bread that my older sister made and gave her to bring to him. Welll....when I got home from work on Tuesday I spied something unusual in my fridge. SHE FORGOT DAD'S BANANA BREAD!!! I immediately called at our other sister's that she was staying at and asked her did she forget something. She said yea, she guessed that I was going to be the lucky recipient of the banana bread. Poor dad. I told her she better go buy him some, even though it wasn't as good as what was in my fridge. (I've only had one piece so far, but it's definitely the bomb)

So anyways, she brought her little fur baby. Talk about SPOILED! He does not like anyone else but her. Well, that is unless she leaves and goes to the store and he doesn't go with her. We had a very interesting long weekend. He would not let me touch him, would not let Leo within 10 feet of his mama. Poor Leo had a hell of a weekend. I felt bad for him. There were a couple of times that Peanut came after Leo because he thought Leo was too close to his mama. Leo would just keep walking like normal and look at Peanut like he was crazy. I guess he got used to Peanut and his hissy fits. But ya know what? Peanut did let me pet him a few times. Which my sister was surprised because no one else had gotten that close to him. :O) UH HUH....I knew I could do it. I made sure to pet him bunches when she went to the store. He would run through the house whining his little tinny/high pitched whine, then he would come jump on my lap. Ohhhhh.....I forgot to tell you what kind he is.......a long haired chihuahua. He almost looks like a papillion (is that spelled right?). I love little dogs and was thoroughly infatuated with trying to get close to him. Of course Leo was not for this at all! He would bark at me the whole time Peanut was in my lap or when I attempted to pet Peanut.

Peanut would growl at me if he think I got too close to his mama. He is very much his mama's little protector. The only thing is that he doesn't really bite. It's more a knashing of his teeth next to your skin to let you know that he's not a happy little camper. Though I'm sure if it was someone my sister didn't know and he felt/smelled fear from her that he would sink his little choppers.

My sister decided she was going to be the griller for the weekend. I have this little round grill on my front porch that I didn't use at all last year and not much the summer before. And it's too easy too. But anyways, when she went to the store she got charcoal, the kind that has the lighter fluid already soaked onto it.

I thought she was the master of the grill. If I had known how little experience she had with charcoal grills I would have intervened. Well.....it seems that she filled the little grill up with charcoal and then lit it.....right underneath my plants, on my front porch - which by the way is wood. She didn't bother to move my plants and one got totally scorched. I was freakin. So she shut the lid on it. (Shaking my head)

I truly think she has this cloud that follows her. I am a klutz but not near as bad as I was this weekend, and she was the same way! Always hurting ourselves, smashing, stoving, stubbing. I ended up stubbing my little toe on my right foot and it was swelled, black and blue and purple. The black and blue showed up underneath my two toes next to my little toe. Do you know that beds don't move? Why is that? LOL. Talk about hurt. I really hit it hard.

Well she's in FL right now. She'll stop back by one night on her way home to NY, so Leo will only have to contend with Peanut one night. And we will go out to eat or I will bring some home. :o)
