Opinions Needed Please

If you’ve read my blog for a while, you know that twice a year I crochet something to go on 4 trees at Warrior’s Walk for the 4 adopted soldiers of the Bomber Girls LRC.  I try to do something different for each time and this time I came up with an idea of crocheting a flag for each tree.
What I want your opinion on is – instead of stars in the blue do you think it would be a bad thing to put a white heart in the blue? I honestly don’t think I can do 50 stars and make it look right. And my thinking on the white heart is that these guys have the Bomber Girls’ hearts.  I think the white hearts would look awesome on the blue. 
The below flag is my own pattern and it’s ready except for blocking. All I have to do is make 3 more.

    I think the heart is a great idea. The heart shows two things, your love for the soldiers you have adopted and their love for their country.

    I love the heart idea. Maybe a star or two and the heart? Although I think the heart is fine. A loving tribute from you for sure.

    Thanks ladies! I was just worried that someone would get mad because there weren't stars in the blue. I'm definitely not 'un-patriotic' and didn't want my flags to be portrayed that way.

    i think the little stars would be cute....but it would take forever....Go with the larger one ..Very cute project

    I think the star idea is a great one..I think one big star would be alot easier and probably quicker also..I don't believe anyone would be offended although I am not real PC when it comes to handcreated things..do what feels right to you and coming from the heart..Blessings my friend

    I think putting a white heart instead of the stars is an awesome idea.

    I always get a lump in my throat when you talk about the trees and the brave heroes behind those trees.
