Glove Love

........is definitely not happening here!

I gave it a valiant try. And I guess I should know better too. I've tried vintage patterns before and they aren't real specific on a lot of points. It calls for the material to be 3 oz. white crochet cotton. Would that be #10, #20, #30?  I used #10 burgundy (of course I have to be different). And I used a bigger hook than was called for. The pattern calls for #9 hook, I used a #4 so that maybe the glove would fit my hand. As it turned out there is no way that even using the bigger hook and most likely bigger thread, that this glove finished would have fit me. My fingers are way bigger. The pattern says it's to fit a 6 - 6 1/2 hand.  I have no clue what size my hand is. Large......that's all I know. lol.

The pattern doesn't say when you turn on each row to ch 4 (3 for the double and one for the space).  I'm guessing that's a given since the whole pattern is 1dc, ch1, sk1. Or did I read that wrong? Verbartim - 'Make 54 chain, turn and work a double crochet into 2nd chain from hook, 1st row: 1 ch., *miss 1 st., 1 d.c. into next st., 1 ch.; repeat from * to end (27 d.c. with 1 ch. between each). This row forms pattern and is repeated throughout.'  Then it says 'Remember to work 1 extra ch. at end of row when turning, and to go through both loops of d.c. of previous row, so that work is reversible.' That last part I don't understand. I just went with the turn, ch 4, (sk 1, dc, ch 1).

I love vintage patterns but they are not specific enough for me. The end results are gorgeous for them. Not for me.
:o(  I wish my grandparents were still around.

What a miserable try huh? I just laughed. I'm also trying to figure out what I can do with it besides frogging it and trying to use the thread for something else. Any suggestions??? :o)
It's cool here again. 40's this morning. What's up with that????????? lol.  It was almost 90 the other day! And hopefully we'll get rain soon, we are too dry and the fires are getting bad again. And people are being stupid and burning when it's dry and very windy.  Where is their head?? Are they not smart enough to know that it can get away from you in the blink of an eye, all you need is one strong gust of wind??  I guess not because it's happening.

Have a great weekend! I hope you get accomplished everything you set out to do, even if it is just to take a nap! :o)

  1. Aw, too bad. I haven't actually crocheted any gloves even though I'm a glove lover. Leaving it to the experts for now. :)

  2. It looks ... very interesting! :-)
We've all had pattern experiments that end up looking VERY different to the picture, except that mine usually look nothing like they're supposed to and yours actually looks like a glove!
